Leprechauns Visit the New Hall of Flags

Rollins School celebrated St. Patrick's Day with fun costumes and a visit to see the Irish flag in their beautiful, new "Hall of Flags" inside the auditorium.

Nile the Whale Comes to Rollins

Cynde McInnis brought a special, extra large delivery to students at the Rollins School. She arrived with Nile, her 43 ft., life-sized inflatable whale that was designed after a female humpback whale born in 1987, who often summers off the coast of Massachusetts. By bringing Nile to classrooms around the country, she hopes to teach students about whales, the oceans, and to inspire our next generation of ocean advocates.

Rollins Students Lend a Hand

Students at the Rollins School took out their brightly colored plastic shovels and got some exercise while helping to clear the snow from their playground area. Everyone had some fun in the snow.

Weather Delays and Early Dismissals Policies

Please be aware, Lawrence Public Schools is preparing for weather emergencies. In an effort to safeguard our students and staff, LPS will be implementing two new weather-related policies:
  • 2-Hour Delayed Opening for Students
  • Early Dismissal for Students
If the Superintendent implements either of these policies, staff and students will be notified by:
local media outlets(TV and radio), Connect Ed message to your home, and the LPS website.

Happy Veterans' Day

In honor of this special holiday, Air Force Veteran, Dean Thayer, treated the children at the Rollins School to some patriotic music and a lesson about Veterans' Day. Mr. Thayer played Taps for the students who now understand that a day off school is in honor of those who served in the military.
