The new Francis M. Leahy School K-8 is being constructed on the location of the former Leahy School and joins the Oliver project as Lawrence’s first new school building in more than two decades. The 1,000-student school complex will combine the Leahy Elementary, Lawlor and Leonard Middle School under one roof. The City of Lawrence has partnered with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, from which partial grant reimbursement will be received. Construction of the new School is ongoing with anticipated occupancy for the start of the academic year in the fall of 2025.
The brickwork on the West elevation continued through the end of the month. Completing most of the wall, less the North corner, which is being used as the hoisting area for the trades. Brickwork on the North wall is underway working East to West and is approximately 25% complete. Work on the East wall was started at the North corner. Worker installed blocking atop of Courtyard parapet to receive the metal trim and PVC membrane. The Roof Terrace PVC membrane, workers started prepping the roof by installing equipment curbs, roofing AVB and blocking atop of roof edge curb.
