HLC Listening

On Tuesday, October 23, the HLC welcomed parents to participate in our first Listening Series of the year. Parents met with students and staff over coffee and pastries and shared some of their hopes and dreams for their children's futures. The HLC will provide parents with several opportunities throughout the year to engage in dialogue about some of the things that HLC is doing well and areas in which we can improve. If you would like to contribute, please call the High School Learning Center at 978-975-5917 or stop by at 58 Lawrence Street. We would love to hear from you!

In other news, the HLC was recently featured in LPS' Partnership Heroes initiative. Click here to watch a short video that features the HLC's effort to build the relationship between school and family.

Students, families, and faculty enjoyed a potluck dinner, face-painting, and an open gym for basketball.

The HLC also held its September Town Hall meeting which honored students for their citizenship and academic efforts.

HLC Faculty and staff

Ninety-six students graduated from the High School Learning Center in the spring and summer of 2018. After seeing our beloved pupils earn their diplomas, the faculty and staff of HLC went right back to work preparing for our next group of students.

With instuction from professors at the Suffolk University Center of Restorative Justice, HLC staff members studied and practiced concepts from Carolyn Boyes-Watson's book Circle Forward: Building a Restorative School Community

With these restorative practices in mind, the High School Learning Center is excited to augment its Advisory program throughout the 2018-19 school year.
