Ms. Jeannette Jimenez, Principal
Allison Balter, Founding Principal of ENLACE Academy at Lawrence High School, has worked in education for 10 years and has been a teacher and school leader working with English Learners in Lawrence at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She also served as the ELL Director for a network of turnaround schools in Massachusetts. She is inspired everyday by the students and families she works with and the phenomenal team of educators at ENLACE.

As a city with a deep immigrant history, Lawrence must be prepared to welcome newcomer English Language Learners (ELLs) in its classrooms and provide them with a world-class education. ENLACE (Engaging Newcomers in Language and Content Education) serves 9th and 10th grade aged ELLs who have been in the U.S. for less than two years and are just beginning their English language development. We are a voluntary program whose mission is to provide newcomer students with the academic and linguistic foundation and socio-emotional supports that will allow them to transition successfully and quickly into the mainstream high school environment, on track to pursue a college or career of their choice. Through this process, we empower our students to proudly and purposefully develop their multilingual and multicultural identities.
