Jessica Deimel, Principal:

Jessica Deimel has been in education for over a decade, working primarily with middle school students.  She joined the UP Education Network team as an Academic Coach in 2018 when she moved to Boston to be closer to family, and has been privileged to support the UP schools in Lawrence for the past two years in that role prior to stepping into the principal position for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Deimel began her time in education as a Teach For America corps member in Philadelphia as a middle school ELA and social studies teacher, where she also worked to develop a theater program for the students.  She moved into administration after almost six years in the classroom, becoming a Director of Curriculum and Instruction at a Young Scholars Kenderton school supporting grades 5-8.  She then moved to Mastery Charter School, where she worked at various times with grades K-8 as an Assistant Principal of Instruction.  She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University.  Outside of school, Ms. Deimel enjoys reading, spending time outdoors hiking and camping, and running the occasional 5 or 10K race.


Sarais Sanchez, Director of Operations:

Mrs.Sanchez was raised in Lawrence and is a proud graduate of the class of 2002. 


At the age of 13, she would go to her mother's job every day after school to help her. Mrs. Sanchez's mother was a preschool teacher, and here is where her passion for working with and around children began. While in high school she was able to participate in a program that set her up with an internship at the Children Center in Methuen working after school with children from infant to school age. After high school, Mrs.Sanchez attended Kaplan University where she majored in Human Services all while working at the Lawrence YMCA first as a group leader then as the school-age site coordinator. Her journey in LPS began in October 2013, as an Office Manager at UP Academy Leonard then their Special Projects Manager and now the Director of Operations of UP Academy Oliver.  Mrs. Sanchez continues to live in Lawrence where she proudly raising her two sons.
