Students with and without disabilities are learning together thanks to programs designed by MA Special Olympics. Beginning this month, 14 schools hoping to earn recognition as a ‘MA Unified Champion School’ have launched a Unified Youth Sports or Young Athletes program. The program emphasizes values of inclusion, cooperation, and understanding. At Rollins week one was a huge success! The sessions, designed for PreK and K students, included singing movement songs, playing ‘I spy’, wiggling scarves, walking like animals, stretching, completing an obstacle course, and crossing the finish line together. These 6-8 week programs will culminate in a Unified Sports Day planned for May 10th at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
