Last Friday, March 9th, was the 4th annual ALA Welcome Reception! We celebrated the 100 students who were selected as members of the fourth class of Abbott Lawrence Academy. It is hard to believe our little school that started with 92 students in year one is now adding its fourth class and will be a full 9-12 experience.

This is the first gold medal for YDO at the Science Olympiad. Congratulations to YDO and all the kids who participated! We are very proud of Giancarlos for volunteering, teaching, and coaching his students to success.

Over the February break, 19 Students from ALA and Marcus Tejada from the Upper School, attended the 33rd annual Harvard Model Congress Conference in Boston. With over 1,500 students in attendance from across the nation and Puerto Rico, these students got to represent members of the United States Senate as they lobbied to pass bills and argue for implementation in the spirit of the United States Congress. Additionally, ALA Junior Francisco Melendez was awarded for his performance and participation as a member on the Senate committee for Environment and Public Works.

two ALA students acting out scene in Aida

Last week we were amazed by an impressive rendition of the musical "Aida" by Abbott Lawrence Academy students. All of their hard work was evident during their brilliant production that showcased dancing, singing, and acting. Many thanks to the Theater director, Laurie Donlan, for making this all come together and highlighting all of the superb talent that we have here in Lawrence High School.
