Last week a group of ALA Juniors travelled to Biogen Community Labs in Cambridge, MA. They participated in an all day, hands-on, scientific activities program. This was a wonderful experience for our ALA students to become involved in the STEM community. We hope to return again with our current Sophomores!

ALA Students posing in front of a room with holiday decorations

ALA students participated in the 3rd annual room decorating contest! Students were required to incorporate diverse cultures into their decorations as well as creativity. They were judged by a panel of judges from a variety of staff in LHS. The winners will be treated to a delicious dinner of Chinese Food this week! Winners (by advisory) were: Nicholas Parsons, Shannon Morey, and Maria Payano. Congratulations to everyone for their hard work and stunning displays of cultural traditions!

Right before the holiday break, our ALA family embraced the spirit of giving by participating in a school wide day of community service. Over 250 students and staff dedicated their day to serving others at Cor Unum, Lawrence Catholic Academy, YDO, Habitat for Humanity Restore, Nevins Nursing Home, Project Home Again, Lazarus House, Spark Academy, and the Lawrence Senior Center. It was a fun and enriching experience that we will continue to incorporate into our holiday traditions! Many thanks to all of the participants that allowed this event to be possible! Also, a huge thank you to the ALA guidance counselor Micaela Tetrault Masterson for orchestrating this whole event!

ALA students were treated to a delicious Thanksgiving potluck prepared by parents and staff members. Students also helped organize the event and particpated in serving meals alongside parents. What a wondeful time to share and bond as an ALA community!
