SLEE Appleseed two students holding the magazineCongratulations to the South Lawrence East Elementary students whose work was chosen for the 2016-2017 Apple Seed! 18 of our students, from 3rd-5th grade, were selected to have their artwork published in the Fall and Spring issues of the magazine. An amazing amount of students drew pictures independently to be submitted artwork for Apple Seed (over 200). Keep up the great creativity!

SLEELBrownieBunniesFor the past five years the Bancroft Elementary School in Andover has donated books for the South Lawrence East Elementary School's free bookstore at our Literacy Nights. On Wednesday, April 12th, third grade EL after school program hosted the Bancroft School's third grade Brownie troop to build bunnies and enjoy Girl Scout Cookies. In addition, students from the Lawrence High School National Honor Society assisted in the activity. We thank the students from the Bancroft School for their generosity towards our SLEES community.

On SLE student seeking autograph from River Hawk mascotWednesday, January 25, third, fourth and fifth grade students from the South Lawrence East Elementary School participated in the third annual Health and Fitness Field Trip Day sponsored by Align Credit Union, Circle Health and Collins Dentistry for Children at UMass Lowell. The women's basketball team played UNH at the Tsongas Center before a crowd of 4,192.  While the UNH Wild Cats defeated the UMass River Hawks, students were nonetheless entertained by the game and the half time Zumba. The theme of the day was to make smart decisions and make healthy lifestyle choices. A fun day was had by all.
