Operations & Support Services: Facilities Management
The Lawrence Public Schools Facilities and Plant Management Department oversees the day-to-day operation of 26 buildings under the auspices of the Lawrence School Committee. The goal for the department is to provide a quality learning environment for all students, staff and families by ensuring that all facilities are available, clean and operating properly for all building occupants. Some of the department’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to all emergencies and requests
- Performing routine and preventive maintenance of building structures and grounds
- Maintaining accurate inventory of custodial supplies and equipment
- Providing district-wide services, including: cleaning and sanitizing, waste and recycling, heating and cooling
- Participating in district planning and construction
The Facilities and Plant Management Department works closely with the City of Lawrence’s Department of Public Works—which is responsible for repairs for all city buildings—to monitor the submission of work orders for repairs and capital improvements to all school buildings.
