On Monday, April 22, 2013 all students and staff members of the Leahy School participated in an Earth Day Assembly. The Recycling/Community Service Committee put together a program whereby each grade level presented poems, shared facts about recycling, and Earth Day posters to sign as a pledge to Save the Earth. The presentations focused on the need for everyone to do his/her part to reduce, reuse and recycle in order to save our planet.

The students even took an Earth Day Pledge

I Pledge to do my best to keep the Earth clean every day.
I will not throw trash on the ground.
I will turn the TV and lights off.
I will recycle.
I will not waste water.
I will tell my family to love and respect the Earth as I do.
You are my planet and we are the future
Go Earth Day!!!

It was a great event for all!

Students at the Leahy School have been working hard all year long taking A-Net assessments in both ELA and Math. These assessments are helping the teachers to determine those areas where there is a need for additional instruction. Teachers and students are certainly making progress. In fact, take a look at some of the posted pictures as these are just a small sample of the many students in grades 3, 4 and 5 who are scoring proficient on A-Net! Students who achieved a score of PROFICIENT can wear these special Beat 60 t-shirts along with their uniform pants every Friday! The Beat 60 theme refers to the Leahy Student Growth Percentile Goal! Keep up the great work Leahy Students!!!!
