SES Special Olympics 2017BThe SLC program capped off its busy May schedule by attending the Special Olympics, which were held at Vetrans' Memorial Stadium.  As tradition, the students participated in a series of events, and received numerous medals.  Congratulations of all your hard work!

Families meet with teachers, administrators, and providers during the SLC's annual open house.

The SLC held it's annual Open House on Thursday, May 18th.  Every year, Ms. Sandra and the SLC program organize this event to allow families time to meet together with school representatives and outside providers in a one stop location.  Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event, and to the families who came to discuss their child's progress.

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, the staff, students, and families of the SLC program took a field trip to the zoo.  Everyone had a great time viewing the animals and learning about their origins and living habits.  The educational trip provided the students with a unique opportunity to learn about animals from a visual perspective, seeing the animals live.  The trip was fun for all, and the students cannot wait for their next opportunity to return!

Mr. Rocky and students pose for a picture during the field trip to the zoo.

Students from the SLC program attend therapeutic horseback riding lessons at Ironstone Farm in Andover.

As Spring arrived, so did the SLC program's annual tradition of attending horseback riding lessons at Ironstone Farm in Andover. SES has partnered with Ironstone Farm for approximately 10 years to provide students with the opportunity to receive lessons in therapeutic horseback riding for students in the SLC program.  For more pictures, please see @seshighschool1 on Twitter.

SES Open House April Thank you to all who attended the Open House! On April 12th, SES kept the doors opened into the after school hours for families, as it held the Spring 2017 Open House/Family Night.  Along with meeting with teachers and counselors to receive updates on their child's progress, families were able to visit the SES Bank with Ms. Harris, enjoy dinner while mingling with other families, SES Staff, and Ms. Reidinger with the SES Administrative Team, and speak with representatives from Family Services, Mass Rehab, American Training, Northeast Independent Living Program, Lawrence Community Works, and Northern Essex Community College.  The night concluded with raffle winners who took home gift cards and one TV.  Congratulations to the winners!  Most importantly, thank you to the 38 families who took the time out of their schedules to come and spend time at SES!  We hope to see you all again at our next event!!!
