Gear Up with the help of BMF/MST staff put together a presentation for their seniors. Fitchburg State, NECC, Boston University, Umass Lowell, and Lasell College pitched each of their schools to the seniors. Excited to meet the admissions directors many students got the change to meet the person who would read their college essays.

21 students from Mrs. Santiago's BMF classes received certificates after completing Financial Literacy classes presented by A.C.T. and Merrimack College financial literacy coaches. Students learned about managing their money and how to save and spend wisely.
On March 15th, three BMF photography classes visited the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover. Students had the opportunity to view the exhibits, Walls and Beams, Rooms and Dreams: Images of Home and Laurie Simmons: In And Around The House. Students partook in several activities and discussions around the theme of home, which they are currently exploring in their art classes at the Lawrence High School Campus.
On Tuesday February 9th, BMF held an assembly to encourage students to register to vote and to get involved in their community. Lawrence High alumna Ana Victoria Morales ’10, who currently serves as Massachusetts Press Assistant to U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), gave a presentation to eighty students about civic engagement and the importance of voting. BMF teacher Cara Copeland, a member of the school’s Culture and Climate Committee that helped organize the event, said “it’s important that we educate our students to be active citizens who are informed and want to vote.” Senior Bernise Martinez appreciated the event: “I always wanted to vote, but I didn’t know how to register.” A number of students completed voter registration forms, and several signed up to volunteer for various political campaigns. Morales remains passionate about Lawrence High School. “We need to create more opportunities for alums to get involved and give back to Lawrence High” she said. Thanks to Ana Morales for giving back to Lawrence High!
After reading the Great Gatsby, BMF’s junior class visited the mansions in Newport Rhode Island where scenes from the 1974 film were shot.  Students enjoyed touring The Breakers, Rosecliff and Marble House.  It was a great time!
